Programme returns & engineering packs

Who we collect from in Paris

OEM head offices and engineering centres produce prototype and validation packs, recall and warranty returns routed through central teams, and programme fleet retirements. Volumes are lumpy but the packs are often high-value and come with full engineering data.

Process

How a Paris collection runs

We work under a framework take-back agreement with the OEM's central sustainability or aftersales team, covering pricing methodology, EPR certificate transfer and confidential handling of prototype hardware, including destruction certificates where required.

  1. 1

    Book the consignment

Share pack counts, chemistry and approximate state of health. We return an indicative value split and a slotted collection window.

  2. 2

    Compliant pickup

Class 9 certified transport with a pre-filled dangerous goods declaration, transporter authorisation and chain-of-custody sheet. Called off against a framework agreement.

  3. 3

    Grading via Lyon, France

Every module is tested for capacity, DC resistance and impedance so value is set on measurement, not on age.

  4. 4

    Certificate issued

A recovery certificate with achieved percentages per metal and downstream vendor disclosure, for reporting under EU Battery Regulation (EU) 2023/1542 and the French EPR (REP) system.

Compliance

The rules in France

EU Battery Regulation (EU) 2023/1542 and the French EPR (REP) system

Regulator: Ministry for Ecological Transition, with ADEME overseeing producer responsibility schemes

The EU Battery Regulation (EU) 2023/1542 applies directly, replacing the old Batteries Directive with extended producer responsibility, collection and material recovery targets, recycled-content rules and, from February 2027, a digital battery passport for EV and larger industrial batteries. France has a long-established producer responsibility system for batteries, run through approved eco-organisations and individual schemes, with ADEME keeping the producer register.

  • Register as a producer and meet take-back duties through an approved scheme
  • Use permitted (ICPE-classified) sites for storage and treatment
  • Report quantities placed on the market and collected
  • Prepare battery passport and due-diligence information for in-scope batteries

Watch-out

Prototype packs may carry unreleased designs, so chain of custody and confidential destruction records matter as much as dangerous goods paperwork.
